ladies, when was the last time you got dolled up to go on a proper date?
i’m generally pretty low-key about dates. especially in the early stages of a relationship, i’m happy to get to know someone in a more casual atmosphere (over coffee, at a concert, while wandering an art gallery). however, i absolutely love to get dressed up for fancier outings. and on those rare evenings, my go-to look is a simple black dress, heels, and a pop of red lipstick.
is it me or does feeling like you look good while working out serve as an extra motivator? i always seem to log extra time at the gym if i throw on an ensemble that feels more put-together than just a t-shirt and shorts. here are some of my favorites pieces of fitness apparel.
ever since i graduated college, i’ve been phasing out the trendier pieces in my wardrobe and trying to collect more classic pieces. (this has been especially critical since moving into a studio apartment with limited closet space). that’s not to say i don’t get swept up in some of the fads (i have a penchant for flamenco ruffled skirts) but it’s always nice to have versatile pieces that i know will last me several years. this week, i thought i’d share some of my wardrobe essentials.
– a tailored blazer
– a khaki trench
– dark over-sized sunglasses
– pearl studs
– a black dress that can go from an office look with a blazer to date night with a statement necklace
– sturdy, classic black pumps that can be worn to work or out on the town
– patterned scarves
– a longchamp tote (really any black tote, but i’ve been living out of my longchamp lately)
– a flattering pair of skinny jeans
– a striped tunic
as the weather gets warmer, i’m incorporating colorful but basic pieces into my outfits. a peachy sweater, skinnies, and simple heels are a great look for spring. cat eyes and a floppy hat add an element of chic to a comfy weekend outfit.
